Pearls & Content

What exactly is a "pearl"?

A pearl is a concise, practical teaching point — a radiological sign, finding, differential, or clinical tip — written in 100 words or fewer. The goal is something you can read, understand, and remember in under a minute.

How do I submit a pearl?

Sign in, then click "Submit" in the navigation. Write your pearl (max 100 words), pick the appropriate category and tags, and submit. Your pearl will be reviewed before it goes live.

Is there a review process?

Yes. All submitted pearls are reviewed by an admin before publishing to ensure accuracy, appropriate tagging, and adherence to the 100-word limit. This usually takes 1–2 days.

Can I edit my pearl after it's published?

Yes. You can edit your own pearls at any time from your Dashboard. Significant edits may trigger a brief re-review.

What content is not allowed?

Patient-identifiable information, unverified or speculative clinical claims, promotional content, and anything outside the scope of radiology teaching. See the Terms of Use for the full content policy.

How do I flag a pearl for review?

Each pearl has a flag icon at the bottom of its card. Click it, choose a reason (e.g. inaccurate content, inappropriate, duplicate), and submit. Flagged pearls are reviewed by an admin. You need to be signed in to flag content.

What happens after I flag a pearl?

Your flag is sent to the admin queue for review. If the content violates our guidelines it will be edited or removed. You won't receive a personal notification on the outcome, but all flags are taken seriously and reviewed promptly.

Account & Profile

Do I need an account to read pearls?

No. Browsing and reading pearls is fully public — no account required. You need an account to submit pearls, like posts, bookmark content, and appear on the leaderboard.

How do I sign up?

Click "Sign In" in the top right. You can sign up with Google (one click) or with an email address via a magic link or password.

How do I change my username or profile picture?

Go to Dashboard → Profile Settings. You can update your display name, username, avatar, location, and bio from there.

Can I delete my account?

Yes. Contact us at contact@radmile.com and we will permanently delete your account and associated data within 7 days.

Leaderboard & Scoring

How is my score calculated?

Your score is a composite of all your activity on RadMiLe, weighted by impact. Reading a pearl earns 1 point. Publishing a pearl earns 3 points. Each like your pearls receive from other users earns 2 points. Each bookmark/save your pearls receive also earns 2 points. So a single well-liked pearl you authored can contribute significantly more than passive reading alone.

What activities earn points and how many?

Reading a pearl: 1 pt · Publishing a pearl: 3 pts · Like received on your pearl: 2 pts · Bookmark received on your pearl: 2 pts. Points accumulate across all your activity and determine both your leaderboard position and your rank tier.

What is the leaderboard based on?

The leaderboard ranks all users by their total composite score. It reflects a combination of how much you read, how much you contribute, and how well-received your pearls are by the community. It updates in real time as activity happens.

Can I appear on the leaderboard anonymously?

No — the leaderboard shows usernames publicly. However, you can choose a username that doesn't identify you personally.

Are there any rewards for topping the leaderboard?

Currently the leaderboard is for community recognition. Your rank badge and position on the leaderboard are visible on your public profile. We may introduce certificates or special badges for top contributors in the future.

Can my score go down?

Your score can decrease if a pearl you authored is removed (e.g. after a content review), since the points associated with it — including likes and saves it had received — are withdrawn. Scores do not decrease due to inactivity.

Ranks & Progression

What are ranks?

Ranks are titles that reflect your overall score and level of engagement on RadMiLe. As your score grows through reading, contributing, and receiving likes and saves, you automatically progress through the rank tiers. Your current rank is shown on your profile and the leaderboard.

What are all the rank tiers?

There are 7 rank tiers in order: Wanderer (0–99 pts) · Seeker (100–499 pts) · Pathfinder (500–1,999 pts) · Guardian (2,000–9,999 pts) · Champion (10,000–49,999 pts) · Sage (50,000–99,999 pts) · Legend (100,000+ pts). Each rank has a unique icon and colour displayed next to your username.

How do I move up in rank?

Your rank advances automatically as your total score crosses each tier's threshold. The fastest ways to climb are: publishing pearls that get liked and saved by the community (each like and save on your pearls earns 2 pts each), and consistently reading new pearls (1 pt each). There's no manual action required — rank updates happen in real time.

What does each rank represent?

Wanderer — just starting out · Seeker — actively learning and exploring · Pathfinder — a regular, engaged contributor · Guardian — a trusted and experienced member · Champion — a distinguished voice in the community · Sage — exceptionally prolific and well-regarded · Legend — among the all-time greats of RadMiLe.

Where can I see my current rank and progress?

Your rank badge appears next to your username on the leaderboard, on your public profile, and in the Dashboard. The Dashboard also shows a progress bar indicating how many points you need to reach the next rank tier.

Can I lose my rank?

Yes, in principle — if your score drops below a tier's threshold (e.g. because a pearl was removed), your rank will adjust accordingly. In practice this is rare. Ranks do not decay due to inactivity.
