Differentiating Button Batteries from Coins on Xrays

A button battery lodged in the esophagus is a highly dangerous medical emergency.

On a radiograph, it can be reliably distinguished from a simple coin by looking for its unique and incontrovertibly diagnostic "double rim" or "halo" sign.
