Inhaled Radiolucent Foreign Bodies on Xrays

Inhaled food items, such as peanuts, will not be visible on standard radiographs.

Instead, we must look for secondary signs of airway obstruction-

• hypertransradiant lung on an inspiration film

• air trapping with mediastinal displacement on rapid expiration.
