Metastatic vs Metabolic Superscan

Superscan is characterized by markedly increased radiotracer uptake within the skeletal system, with minimal to absent activity in the urinary tract and soft tissues, reflecting predominant tracer localization in bone.

A metastatic superscan typically shows heterogeneous uptake predominantly in the axial and proximal appendicular skeleton.

In contrast, a metabolic superscan demonstrates more uniform uptake involving both axial and peripheral skeleton, including the distal extremities, calvarium, and mandible.
