Rigler's Triad vs. Rigler's Sign

The classic Rigler's Triad for gallstone ileus consists of

  1. pneumobilia

  2. a mechanical bowel obstruction

  3. an ectopic gallstone

Rigler's Sign is the visualisation of both the inner and outer surfaces of the bowel wall by the presence of gas. It is a critical indicator of pneumoperitoneum.
